In a significant operation, Assam Rifles successfully seized approximately 1,024 kg of marijuana, valued at Rs 4.09 crore. This marks one of the largest marijuana recoveries in recent times, highlighting the ongoing efforts to combat illegal narcotics in the region.

Joint Operation Unveils Hidden Stash

The operation, a joint effort by Assam Rifles and representatives of the Customs Department, Agartala, was initiated based on specific information regarding the illegal storage of marijuana at a warehouse and the adjacent forest area in Bijoynagar, Sidhai Mohanpur of West Tripura District.

Upon reaching the identified location, the joint team cordoned off the area and conducted a meticulous search. This led to the discovery of approximately 1,024 kg of marijuana, with an estimated street value of Rs 4.09 crore.

Following the successful operation, the confiscated marijuana was handed over to the Customs Department of Agartala for further legal proceedings.

The operation’s success is a significant blow to the illegal narcotics trade, preventing the potential supply of these substances to the youth of Tripura. By curbing the movement of illegal narcotics, Assam Rifles aims to safeguard the health and future of the state’s youth.
