A tragic incident occurred in Barpeta, Assam, on Saturday, resulting in the loss of lives of at least three youths who were fatally run over by a truck.
Fatalities and Injuries
Among the victims, two were women and one was a man, who were riding on a scooter when the speeding truck collided with them. Unfortunately, the three individuals succumbed to their injuries on the spot, while another person, reportedly a minor, sustained severe injuries.
The devastating accident took place in the Barpeta Road area, sending shockwaves through the local community.
The deceased victims were identified as Shahjahan Ali, Aasma Khatun, and Jasmine Parveen, all residents of Satbhonir Tup village in Barpeta, Assam.
The minor who survived the accident is currently receiving medical treatment at a nearby hospital.
While allegations suggest that the truck was speeding and fled the scene after the accident, local authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
It was revealed that the vehicle involved in the accident was a scooter, which did not have a registration plate. Furthermore, it was observed that the scooter was carrying more passengers than the permitted capacity at the time of the accident.
