The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for all districts in Tripura, forecasting thunderstorms and moderate rainfall over the next five days. The alert also includes a warning for gusty winds, with speeds expected to range between 30 and 40 kmph in various areas.
According to an IMD official, “A cyclonic circulation persists at around 1.5 km above mean sea level over East Assam and its neighboring regions. This system is influencing weather patterns across a broad zone stretching from East Rajasthan to North Bangladesh, passing through East and West Madhya Pradesh, Southeast Uttar Pradesh, and Jharkhand.”
Over the past 24 hours, the IMD recorded very light rainfall across all districts of Tripura. Dry conditions were observed particularly in the southern, western, Khowai, and northern regions, with only trace amounts of precipitation reported.
“There has been no significant change in maximum temperatures. In fact, they continue to remain above normal, with the mercury climbing to 34.6°C today,” the official added.
Districts such as Unakoti, Dhalai, Khowai, and West Tripura are under specific yellow alerts, with the potential for light to moderate rainfall and isolated thunderstorms. The IMD also warned of the possibility of gusty winds in one or two areas, potentially reaching 40 kmph.
Residents are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions during this period of unstable weather.
