A case of rape of a 2-year-old girl has come to light in Tripura. A 64-year-old elderly man has been arrested in this case, who is the neighbor of the victim. The police officer said that the incident took place in Kamalpur area of Dhalai district. The accused, who has been identified as Jamsed Ali, committed this rape on November 11 at his house.
Assistant Inspector General Jyotishman Das Chowdhary said that the accused was produced in the court, from where he was sent to judicial custody for 14 days. A total of 2,164 incidents of crime against women were registered in Tripura in the last two and a half years, of which 407 were rape cases. Out of these 407 cases, 381 are of rape and the other 26 are of gang rape.
