Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein has called for the strict enforcement of Arunachal GST registration rules. He made the appeal during a high-level meeting with finance and taxation officials in Itanagar. According to him, many eligible businesses still remain outside the GST system.
He stressed that bringing these businesses under registration will help the state increase revenue. Moreover, it will promote fairness in trade and reduce tax evasion.
“We cannot afford to lose state revenue,” Mein said. “Every business that meets the GST threshold must register and follow the law.”

Ensuring tax fairness through stronger action
As the push for Arunachal GST registration continues, Mein pointed out that many traders still avoid compliance. These businesses often meet the turnover limit but do not pay taxes.
To address this, he instructed officials to track such businesses using data from various departments. He also urged district administrations to play an active role.
Additionally, notices will be sent to non-compliant traders, followed by legal action if they do not respond. Departments must also help small businesses understand registration steps.
Digital tracking and ground-level coordination
To strengthen enforcement, the state will introduce digital monitoring tools. These tools will flag businesses that show high sales but are not registered. The Deputy CM asked officers to use these systems actively and share reports every month.
He also emphasized the need for cooperation between state tax departments and local bodies. “District collectors must lead these efforts. Only then will Arunachal GST registration goals be achieved,” he said.
Special task forces will be set up in key districts like Tawang, Namsai, and Pasighat. These teams will inspect markets, identify unregistered traders, and guide them through the process.
Driving awareness among traders and citizens
Besides enforcement, awareness is equally important. Mein asked the department to run state-wide awareness drives. These campaigns will target shopkeepers, service providers, and small entrepreneurs.
He also called on the public to demand GST bills. “When people ask for invoices, traders are more likely to stay compliant,” he added. This public habit can greatly support the system.
The government will soon launch ‘GST Seva Camps’ in market hubs. These camps will offer free help with registration, return filing, and understanding benefits.
The state government’s focus on Arunachal GST registration shows its intent to build a transparent and accountable economy. With better enforcement, digital tools, and community support, the administration plans to cover every eligible business under GST.
Deputy CM Chowna Mein’s strong stand reflects Arunachal’s vision for self-reliance. By improving tax compliance today, the state secures a more stable future.
