A wave of emotion swept through Damodarpur village in Kokrajhar district on Sunday as BSF jawan Suddhi Rabha returned home after recovering from injuries sustained during the high-risk ‘Operation Sindoor’. The village came alive with chants, cheers, and patriotic songs as locals lined the streets to salute their hero.

The 29-year-old jawan, who is attached to the Border Security Force (BSF), suffered multiple injuries while neutralizing threats near the international border during a strategic counter-infiltration mission last month. His courage under fire has made him a local icon.

Emotional Homecoming of BSF jawan in Kokrajhar

The BSF jawan injured in Operation Sindoor was escorted home by senior BSF officers and local security personnel. Upon his arrival, students, villagers, and district officials greeted him with traditional Bodo cultural performances and garlands.

“I am overwhelmed,” said Rabha with folded hands. “This love gives me the strength to keep serving the nation.”

His parents, overwhelmed with tears, expressed both pride and relief. “We were scared after hearing of his injuries. But, now, seeing him back safe, we thank the gods and the doctors,” said his mother.

The operation lasted over 72 hours, involving multiple BSF units under intense enemy fire. Rabha, while covering his unit’s left flank. Nevertheless, was hit by shrapnel but continued to provide cover fire until reinforcements arrived.

Local administration, in collaboration with the Kokrajhar District Council, announced that a road in Damodarpur village will be renamed in his honor.

The event became a community celebration. Volunteers organized a blood donation drive, inspired by Rabha’s sacrifice. Youth groups pledged to join the armed forces. Moreover, schools announced new awards for bravery and patriotism in Rabha’s name.
