In a significant political event, the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra was formally flagged off today in Thoubal, Manipur, with Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi leading the charge. The Yatra aims to address the prevailing issues in the state and beyond, highlighting the alleged governance collapse and divisive politics under the BJP government.
During the inauguration at Khongjom, Rahul Gandhi took the opportunity to criticize the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their handling of the situation in Manipur. He expressed dismay over the state’s infrastructure collapse since June 29, emphasizing the suffering of lakhs of people who lost loved ones in the troubled scenario. Gandhi condemned the absence of the Indian PM in extending support to the affected, labeling it as a shameful oversight.
According to Gandhi, Manipur has now become a symbol of BJP’s hate politics, asserting that the state reflects the divisive ideology of the BJP and RSS. He pledged that the Congress party would work towards restoring peace and harmony in Manipur, aiming to bring back the values that the state has traditionally been known for.

The Yatra’s itinerary includes stops at significant locations like Koirengei Bazar in Imphal, with an overnight stay planned at the Koujengleima Sports Association Football Ground in Sekmai. The Congress party has clarified that the motive behind the Yatra is to end the “anyay kaal” (era of injustice) under the Narendra Modi-led government, positioning it strategically ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Rahul Gandhi, leading the Yatra spanning 67 days, intends to engage with diverse societal groups, including farmers, laborers, Dalits, tribals, among others. The transformative journey is set to cover an extensive 6,713 km, both by buses and on foot, traversing through 100 Lok Sabha constituencies in 15 states and spanning 110 districts. The march is anticipated to conclude in Mumbai on March 20 or 21.
