Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Minister of State for Civil Aviation General V.K. Singh launched several flights yesterday to expand connectivity in the Northeast. Increased connectivity in the North East will increase tourism and trade, which will help in the economic development of these states. Shri Scindia virtually flagged off a flight from Itanagar to Mumbai via Kolkata yesterday. Alliance Air also started two new flight services between Dibrugarh to Itanagar and Ziro and Dibrugarh to Itanagar and Pasighat.

Mr. Scindia said that in the last eight years, the Narendra Modi government has given unprecedented priority to the northeastern states. He said that it is the dream of the Prime Minister to provide air connectivity to every corner of the country and his ministry is working with every state to fulfill this task. The Civil Aviation Minister informed that connectivity is being established not only in major cities but also in remote areas of smaller cities. Appreciating the Arunachal Pradesh government for reducing VAT on aviation fuel, he said that this has led to rapid increase in air connectivity in the state.
