In a purported document, the dates for assembly polls were out on the website claiming the dates February 27. But soon just a few hours later the Election Commission on Friday clarified the dates to be the same as the previous one. EC said that the dates are the same that are scheduled on the 16th of February.
In the mistake, it was showing on the website “Tripura would go to the polls on February 27, along with Meghalaya and Nagaland.” EC by clearing the mistake said that it was an inadvertent typing mistake.
The state Chief Electoral Kiran Dinkarrao Gitte, held an urgent press conference to clarify the confusion. She said, “There was some confusion regarding date issues on social media. I want to clarify that there are no changes in the election date for Tripura. Elections will be held on February 16.”
