Agartala, May 11, 2024 – In a joint operation, the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) successfully thwarted an attempt of illegal migration at Agartala Railway Station today. Eight Bangladeshi women and an Indian tout were apprehended as they tried to board the Kanchanjunga Express destined for Mumbai in pursuit of employment opportunities.
The arrests were made following a vigilant surveillance by the authorities, who detected suspicious activities at the railway station. Upon investigation, it was revealed that the group of Bangladeshi women, accompanied by the Indian tout, were attempting to board the train without valid documents or permissions.
The apprehended individuals were identified as potential victims of human trafficking, lured by the promise of lucrative jobs in Mumbai. The Indian tout, believed to be the orchestrator of the illegal migration attempt, was immediately taken into custody along with the Bangladeshi women.
The timely intervention by the GRP and RPF not only prevented a potential case of human trafficking but also underscored the significance of stringent border security measures.
