Fisheries production in North Eastern states is below the national average. Manipur Fisheries Minister H. Dingo Singh said this in a tone of concern.

Incidentally, the 4-day International Conference and Fisheries Festival on Responsible Aquaculture and Sustainable Fisheries Interact (RASHI) 2022 has started today at the College of Fisheries in Lembuchara, Tripura. This conference and festival has been organized on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the College of Fisheries. Fisheries Minister Prem Kumar Riang inaugurated the festival.

Fisheries scientists from India, Thailand, Bangladesh and Japan participated in the conference. On the occasion of the conference, 6 different topics will be discussed respectively Fisheries Resource and Sustainability, Innovation for Nutritional Securities, Genome to Phenome in Aquatics, Healthy Aquatics for Healthy Fish, Aqua Resource Utilization: Net to Mouth and Smart Fisher for Advanced Society etc. There will also be satellite meets.

Inaugurating the Fisheries Festival, Fisheries Minister Prem Kumar Riang said that the students who passed out from this college are working with reputation in various organizations of the country and abroad. He expressed hope that this college will play a promising role in shaping the successful career of students in the future.

On the occasion Chief Guest and Manipur Fisheries Minister H Dingo Singh said that the fisheries production in North Eastern states is less than the national average. Fishermen here face difficult problems in fish production due to topographic variations and climate. He urged scientists to come forward to solve this problem. Also, he added, fish is one of the ingredients to meet the protein needs of the body. Therefore, fish production plays an important role in the country’s economy and lifestyle.

He claimed that efforts are being made to increase fish production in the country through the use of advanced scientific methods. He praised the Fisheries College and said that this college has now become one of the colleges in the country for imparting education. For this reason, he praised all the professors here.

Students, professors, researchers, fisheries officers, fishermen from different states of the country were felicitated in 12 different categories in the opening ceremony. Abstract book, silver jubilee wall calendar with souvenirs, table calendar, practice book, innovation book etc. were unveiled on the occasion.
