Tripura gears up to become a major spiritual tourism hub with landmark project
Tripura is set to witness the foundation laying ceremony of a grand replica of the 51 Shakti Peeths at Bandoyar in Udaipur on July 10, 2025. The event will be graced by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tripura, Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha, who will attend the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony, marking the official commencement of construction.
Conceived by the Department of Tourism, Government of Tripura, this ambitious project will authentically recreate all 51 Shakti Peeths as described in Hindu scriptures. Once completed, the complex is expected to become a major spiritual attraction for devotees from across India and the world.
To bring this vision to life, the Central Government has sanctioned ₹97.70 crore for the project. These funds will be used for the construction of temple replicas, landscaping, modern infrastructure, visitor amenities, and other tourism-related facilities.
Located in Bandoyar, Udaipur, a culturally rich region already home to the sacred Tripureswari Temple—one of the original Shakti Peeths—this new complex will further elevate the district’s spiritual importance. The site will serve as a spiritual hub and a key religious tourism destination in Gomati district.
Officials believe the project will not only boost tourism but also create employment opportunities and stimulate economic activity in the region. It is poised to redefine Tripura’s position on the religious tourism map of India.
Tourism experts and cultural enthusiasts are calling this development a historic initiative that will celebrate and preserve India’s spiritual heritage. Once completed, the 51 Shakti Peeths replica complex is expected to attract lakhs of visitors annually and significantly boost local and regional development.
