In a vibrant celebration of faith and heritage, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday inaugurated the annual Kharchi Puja Tripura at the Chaturdash Devata Temple premises in Old Agartala.
He praised the festival as a symbol of cultural unity and tribal pride, while also underscoring the government’s efforts to make the event safe, sustainable, and technologically advanced.

This year, the Kharchi Puja Tripura adopted several eco-friendly initiatives to reduce waste and protect the environment.
“We are determined to celebrate traditions while caring for our environment. Our goal is to make Kharchi Mela a model green festival,” CM Saha said during the inauguration.
Authorities have banned single-use plastics at the mela. Vendors must use biodegradable plates and cups. Special teams are monitoring waste disposal to keep the area clean.
