Beginning on January 14, all district hospitals and one sub-divisional hospital in the state of Tripura will host “Day-Care Camps” for cancer patients on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month to help them.
According to a report from the Health and Family Welfare department, a proposal was initiated that ‘Day-Care Camps’ could be organized in the District Hospitals and also in the Melaghar sub-divisional hospital for cancer patients.
They will provide services like chemotherapy, routine and special inquests like endoscopy, Ultrasound scan, etc., as well as viable surgical procedures in a day-care mode, it will greatly benefit the cancer patients by easing their access to such services at their respective districts in their home place.
National Programme for Palliative Care funds may be used to cover the costs of establishing such Day-Care camps, with the help of the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular diseases and Stroke (NPCDCS) budget being used to provide flexibility and scalability support.
