In a resounding triumph at the Eastern Zonal School Band Competition, the Government Mizo High School Pipe Band from Aizawl has earned the honor of representing not only their school and city but the entire East Zone at the prestigious All India National School Band Competition. Organized by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence, this event has become a hallmark of the Republic Day Celebrations since its inception in 2017.

Out of 73 schools contending at the zonal level, the Govt Mizo High School Pipe Band emerged as the triumphant force from the East Zone. Their victory sets the stage for the final showdown at the National Stadium in New Delhi on January 21st and 22nd, 2024.

Established in the year 2000, the Govt. Mizo High School Pipe Band is comprised of 25 dedicated boys who have devoted eight months to rigorous practice in anticipation of this grand event. Their journey to the national stage began with a decisive win in the Eastern Zonal School Band Competition held in December 2023.

The band, with a remarkable history, made its debut appearance at the NCC RDC Delhi in 2007, leaving an indelible mark by marching and displaying at the Prime Minister’s Rally. Now, with their eyes set on the upcoming national competition, the band members not only vie for the coveted title but also for the cash prize, trophy, and certificates awarded to the winners in each category at the National Level Band Competition.
