In a major cultural push, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday launched the initiative ‘Bodoland Speaks’. Further, the launch was held at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati. It aims to strengthen linguistic inclusivity and amplify local voices in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

While speaking at the event, Sarma said Bodoland Speaks Himanta Biswa Sarma will help preserve local languages and heritage.
“This is more than books. Henceforth, it’s about identity, pride, and unity,” he said.
Promoting Bodo Culture and Language
Several books and journals in Bodo language were unveiled under the project. BTR Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro praised the move.
“These publications will connect generations and preserve Bodo culture,” he said.
Plans are underway to distribute these works to libraries and schools.

Sarma said that linguistic diversity shapes Assam’s identity.
“We must ensure every community’s voice is heard,” he said.
He promised to support translation efforts so Bodo literature reaches a wider audience.

“This move builds goodwill and strengthens political bonds,” said Dr. Anirban Kalita from Gauhati University.

“A community proud of its roots contributes more to growth,” he said.
Bodo language will soon integrate into mainstream education and vocational programs.

Bodo writer Dhananjay Narzary welcomed the project.
“It’s a historic day. Our stories will travel far,” he said.
Activist Rina Boro added, “We hope for financial support and literary events.”

Sarma announced eco-friendly publishing for Bodoland Speaks Himanta Biswa Sarma.
“All books will also be available digitally for wider access,” he said.
A website for Bodoland Speaks will feature e-books and forums.
Call to Action
Sarma urged communities to join the cultural conversation.
“Let’s build a united Assam. Support local authors and learn new languages,” he said.
