Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam stated that the Northeastern states are developed through transportation and in the upcoming time a huge number of transportation projects will be introduced in various states of the Northeast.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined the program digitally from New Delhi while Himanta Biswa Sarma spoke at the Pandu terminal in Guwahati. He said that Northeastern states would have already been on a development path since Independence if development there had continued at the current rate.
At the event, Modi Ji opened the Maritime Skill Development Centre in Guwahati, which would provide local youths with greater employment possibilities. He also launched the groundwork for a ship-repairing facility in Guwahati that would compete with a facility of the same nature in Kolkata by saving ship owners money on fuel and labor expenses, increasing nearby subsidiary businesses, and creating jobs.
In terms of roadways and railways, improvements have been made by them and now they are working on waterways for further development, According to Himanta Biswa Sarma the MV Ganga Vilas would make it possible for visitors to go to destinations like the Assamese tea capital Dibrugarh, the Kaziranga National Park, Majuli Island, and Kamakhya Temple. He also stated that visitors will always be given the highest respect and consideration in the state.
