Two Bodies Found Hanging in Rubber Plantation

Police recovered the bodies of a married woman and an unmarried man from a rubber plantation at Nadiachan Para in Kunjaban village under Kalyanpur Police Station.

The deceased were identified as Haridas Paul (30), son of Bhulu Paul, and Papiya Shil Paul (32), wife of Jiban Paul. According to police, both were residents of Kunjaban village.

Officials said they found the bodies hanging from the same tree with a nylon net during the intervening night of June 30 and July 1, 2026.

Police Launch Investigation

Local residents discovered the bodies on Wednesday morning and immediately alerted the police.

Soon after, a police team led by Sub-Inspector Anjan Debbarma reached the spot and began a preliminary investigation.

Later, Additional Superintendent of Police (Khowai) Justin Joseph and Officer-in-Charge Ashish Sarkar also visited the scene with additional personnel.

After completing legal formalities, police recovered the bodies and sent them for post-mortem examination.

During the preliminary inquiry, some local residents told investigators that Haridas Paul and Papiya Shil Paul were allegedly involved in a romantic relationship. They also claimed that the alleged relationship had caused disputes within their families.
