The politically influential Matua community in West Bengal is looking to expand its reach into Tripura by establishing a Matua Dharma Mahasangh Bhawan in the state. During a press conference on Sunday, community leaders Acharya Pulak Gosai and Tapan Das announced their visit to different places in Tripura, including Nalchar, Dabbari, Asharambari, and Ambassa, where they reached out to members of their community and met with MLA Mina Rani Sarkar. The Matua leaders highlighted that there are over four lakh Matuas in Tripura, and they are working towards uniting them. The leaders also mentioned their foundation’s focus on supporting deserving Matua students and other social initiatives. The Matua community’s expansion in Tripura could have significant political implications in the state, given its strong political presence in West Bengal.
