Meghalaya Police Arrests Four in Garo Hills for Drug Peddling

Meghalaya Police arrested four individuals suspected of involvement in illegal drug trade in the South West Garo Hills (SWGH) district.

Police Action Based on Credible Information

Acting on credible information, a police team launched an operation in the Balalgre area under Damalgre Police Station’s jurisdiction to apprehend the suspects.

During the operation, the police successfully apprehended the four suspects, namely Chanchu M Marak of Balading, Tura, Santo Bhowmick alias Kamlesh of Hawakhana, Tura, Raj Barman of Hawakhana, Tura, and Topon Das of Singimari, Hallidayganj, West Garo Hills.

The suspects were found in possession of illegal substances, including several SPSHEN+ – 150 capsules with Tramadol Hydrochloride salt content of 7.5 grams.

In addition to the illegal substances, the police also seized an autorickshaw that the suspects were allegedly using for transporting the drugs. Three mobile phones were also confiscated during the operation.

The suspects are believed to have procured the drugs from Mankachar in Assam with the intention of selling them in Garo Hills.

Following the arrests, the police have initiated a thorough investigation into the matter to uncover any additional details and individuals involved in the illegal drug trade.

The successful operation underscores the commitment of Meghalaya Police to combatting drug trafficking and ensuring the safety and well-being of the citizens in the region.
