In Manipur’s Kangpokpi district, at least three individuals faced a brutal assault by suspected militants, resulting in two fatalities and leaving another critically injured. The tragic event occurred at Motbung Bazaar, where the victims were reportedly chased, dragged on the road, and beaten at gunpoint.

The suspected underground group allegedly overpowered the three individuals around 5:45 pm on Saturday. The victims were accused of using intoxicant substances and extorting money in cash from truckers at Motbung Bazaar, situated on National Highway 102, which connects Imphal to Dimapur, the commercial hub of Nagaland.
Jaminglal, aged 38, and Jaminglel, also 38, both residents of Kangpokpi district, succumbed to their injuries while being transported to Letpao Hospital. The severity of the attack resulted in tragic fatalities. Another victim, Haominthang, aged 37 and a resident of Thangbangjang village in the same district, sustained critical injuries and was evacuated to a hospital in Dimapur for medical attention.
