Guwahati: A battalion of the 23 Sector Assam Rifles under the protection of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) together with the Excise and Narcotics Department seized a large number of methamphetamine tablets worth more than Rs.30.84 crore on the international market.
Acting on specific input, the joint team set up a mobile vehicle control center in the Falklands, northeast of the state capital.
The team carefully observed the vehicle’s movements and intercepted the suspicious vehicle.
After thorough checking, 92,550 methamphetamine tablets worth Rs 30.84 billion were recovered from the vehicle.
Methamphetamine, also called Meth, is a stimulant used as a recreational drug.
The entire consignment was seized on the spot and the joint team detained the individual, the statement added.
