No Liquor On The Occasion Of Durga Puja

Officials stated on Friday that on the occasion of Durga Puja and Diwali liquor shops will be closed in Tripura they said it is done to ensure peace in the state.

Around 2,506 community Durga Puja are being organized across the northeastern state of which 436 are by Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC).

The official also informed that the detective will be sent for the strict enforcement of no drinking during Durga puja and Diwali. The buyer and seller are not allowed to sell or buy any liquor.

“All liquor shops will remain close from October 2 to 5 and on October 24 for ensuring pace and maintenance of law and order,” informed Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Jyotishman Das Chowdhury on Friday.

This notification has been received in eight districts of Tripura. Any violation of this statement will invite stern action.

Adequate security is being provided around the state to prevent uncertain incidents anywhere in Tripura.

“More than 2,500 security personnel, including those of Tripura State Rifles (TSR), will be deployed to oversee the celebrations. Apart from this, an adequate number of CCTVs will also be fitted at strategic locations for surveillance,” the AIG said, adding that BSF authorities, too, have been alerted as infiltrations bids may increase in number amid such festivities.
