Over 6,000 betel nut trees have been removed by the Assam Forest Department under the Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority Plan in Boko.

A large number of cutting down of betel nut trees in Boko has angered the surrounding villages of the state.

The executive member of the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council, Marak stated that the forest department should have filed an eviction notice before cutting the betel nut trees.

He also said that the Upper Bamunigaon residents protected the trees to contribute to the growth of the community and further requested the Chief Minister of Assam Himanata Biswa Sarma and Prime Minister Modi to look into the situation carefully and help the people of Boko.
