Party Slams Violence as Harmful to Tripura’s Future
The Tipra Motha party has strongly condemned the recent attack on BJP workers in Hezamara, calling the incident “completely unexpected and deplorable.” The party said violence has no place in democratic politics and warned that such acts harm Tripura’s future.
Party spokesperson Rajeshwar Debbarma addressed the media on Thursday and made it clear that Tipra Motha rejects the politics of violence. He said unrest and intimidation only derail development and create fear among citizens.

Violence Contradicts Party Ideology
Debbarma reiterated that Tipra Motha’s ideology rests on peace, dialogue, and democratic values. He said the party believes that political disagreements must find expression through discussion, not aggression.
He recalled that party chief Pradyot Kishore Debbarma has repeatedly urged all stakeholders to maintain peace and harmony across Tripura. According to Debbarma, the leadership has always promoted calm and unity, even during periods of political tension.
“For the development and progress of the state, everyone must work together,” he said. “Violence and unrest only push Tripura backward.”
Appeal for Political Maturity and Responsibility
The Tipra Motha spokesperson called for collective responsibility from all political parties. He urged leaders and workers to show restraint and maturity, especially during times of political rivalry.
Debbarma said differences of opinion form the backbone of democracy. However, he stressed that such differences should never lead to physical attacks or intimidation.
“A healthy democracy allows debate, criticism, and protest,” he said. “It does not allow violence.”
Demand for Strict Action in Hezamara Case
Referring specifically to the Hezamara incident, Debbarma demanded strict and impartial action against those involved. He said authorities must identify every person directly or indirectly linked to the attack.
“The law must take its course without fear or favour,” he asserted. “Political identity should not shield anyone from punishment.”
He also called for a swift investigation and exemplary punishment to prevent similar incidents in the future. According to him, strong action would send a clear message that violence will not be tolerated in Tripura.
Call to Maintain Peace Across the State
Debbarma appealed to citizens to remain calm and avoid falling prey to provocation. He said maintaining peace remains essential for stability, investment, and development in the state.
He urged political workers at all levels to act responsibly and avoid actions that could disturb communal or political harmony.
Commitment to Peaceful Politics
Concluding his address, Debbarma reaffirmed Tipra Motha’s commitment to peaceful and issue-based politics. He said the party would continue to work for the welfare of the people through democratic means.
“Tripura can progress only through unity, peace, and cooperation,” he added.
