Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has urged young people to embrace innovation, technology and entrepreneurship to accelerate the state’s development. He stressed that youth must play an active role in building a modern, digitally empowered Tripura.

The Chief Minister made these remarks while addressing a programme at Women’s College in Agartala on Thursday. He launched three initiatives to promote innovation, improve digital access and strengthen entrepreneurship among young people.

The initiatives include the Tripura Seva First Innovation Challenge 2026, Mukhyamantri Yuba Yogayog Yojana for the academic year 2025-26 and Digi-SAPNE 3.0.

Saha said Tripura has immense talent among its young population. He emphasised the need to connect that talent with technology, education and opportunities. He also called for an environment where students can turn their ideas into practical solutions and successful businesses.

Three Initiatives Aim to Strengthen Tripura’s Development

The three programmes focus on different aspects of youth empowerment. Together, they aim to create opportunities for students, innovators and aspiring entrepreneurs.

The Seva First Innovation Challenge 2026 encourages young minds to develop technology-based solutions for governance and public service delivery.

The Mukhyamantri Yuba Yogayog Yojana aims to improve digital access among students. It supports their use of smartphones and digital platforms for education and skill development.

Meanwhile, Digi-SAPNE 3.0 seeks to strengthen the startup ecosystem across Northeast India. The programme will connect emerging entrepreneurs with mentorship, business development support and investment opportunities.

Through these initiatives, the state government aims to encourage young people to participate directly in Tripura’s economic and technological progress.

Seva First Innovation Challenge Focuses on Practical Solutions

The Tripura Seva First Innovation Challenge 2026 will provide a platform for students, researchers, innovators and startups.

The challenge encourages participants to identify problems in public services and develop practical technological solutions. It also seeks to promote creative thinking and problem-solving among young people.

The initiative operates under the broader Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, which Tripura observes from September 17 to October 17.

Through this challenge, the government hopes to connect innovative ideas with public needs. Young participants can explore how technology can improve governance, service delivery and everyday life.

The programme also encourages collaboration between educational institutions, innovators and government departments.

Mukhyamantri Yuba Yogayog Yojana Expands Digital Access

Digital connectivity remains an important part of Tripura’s education and development strategy.

The Chief Minister launched the Mukhyamantri Yuba Yogayog Yojana for the 2025-26 academic year. The scheme aims to help students access smartphones and digital learning resources.

According to reports, the initiative has benefited more than 63,000 students since its introduction in 2019-20. The government has spent over ₹31.62 crore on the programme.

Access to digital devices can help students explore online educational materials, develop technological skills and access information beyond traditional classrooms.

The scheme also supports students as educational institutions increasingly adopt digital learning methods.

By improving connectivity, the government aims to reduce barriers that prevent young people from accessing modern educational opportunities.

Digi-SAPNE 3.0 to Support Emerging Entrepreneurs

The launch of Digi-SAPNE 3.0 marks another step towards strengthening Tripura’s startup ecosystem.

The Digital Startup Acceleration Program for North East operates through AIC-SMUTBI in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

The programme aims to support technology-driven startups through structured mentorship, business acceleration and investor connections.

It seeks to help entrepreneurs refine their ideas, develop business models and expand their ventures.

The event also highlighted the progress of startups under the previous Digi-SAPNE cohort. The programme included financial assistance for selected startups under Digi-SAPNE 2.0.

Such support can help young entrepreneurs overcome early business challenges and develop solutions with commercial and social value.

CM Highlights Technology and Entrepreneurship

During his address, Saha stressed that education must go beyond classroom learning. He highlighted the importance of practical knowledge, technological awareness and creative thinking.

He also referred to the growing role of Artificial Intelligence and digital transformation in shaping future opportunities.

The Chief Minister encouraged students to develop skills that match changing industry requirements. He said young people should explore entrepreneurship and consider creating employment rather than depending only on conventional jobs.

The government aims to promote an environment where innovation can contribute to sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, education, tourism and public administration.

Tripura Pushes Towards an Innovation-Driven Future

The programme also marked the inauguration of the renovated Matangini Pritilata Sabhagriha at Women’s College.

Senior government officials, ministers, academic representatives, startup founders and students attended the event.

The Directorate of Information Technology organised the programme as part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.

Tripura has also introduced measures such as the Tripura Startup Policy 2024 and the State Innovation Mission to encourage entrepreneurship and innovation.

These efforts reflect the state’s focus on digital inclusion, startup development and technology-led growth.

Youth Participation Remains Central to State Development

Tripura’s latest initiatives place young people at the centre of its development agenda. The government aims to connect education, technology and entrepreneurship to create new opportunities.

However, the long-term impact will depend on effective implementation, accessibility and sustained support for participants.

By encouraging students to develop ideas, build businesses and solve practical problems, Tripura seeks to strengthen its innovation ecosystem.

The Chief Minister’s call for youth-led innovation highlights the growing importance of young talent in shaping the state’s economic future.
