Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the 12th Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) at Jampuijala in Sepahijala district, reaffirming the government’s commitment to providing quality education for Janajati (tribal) students across the state.

The newly built residential school, constructed at a cost of ₹28.54 crore, is part of the 21 sanctioned EMRSs under the central government’s initiative to promote inclusive and culturally integrated education for Scheduled Tribe students.

Speaking at the inauguration, Chief Minister Dr. Saha said, “Establishing Eklavya Model Residential Schools is an effort to provide quality education to Janajati students while preserving their cultural identity through education. This initiative has gained significant momentum under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

He emphasized that the government’s focus is not only on expanding access to education but also on improving the overall quality of learning, infrastructure, and opportunities for tribal youth. “Our government is committed to ensuring that education reaches the last mile, enabling every child from tribal communities to learn, grow, and succeed,” he added.

The Eklavya Model Residential Schools are funded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, and aim to provide modern, high-quality education from Class VI to XII to Scheduled Tribe students in remote and rural areas. The schools offer state-of-the-art facilities including smart classrooms, science and computer laboratories, libraries, hostels, and sports complexes—ensuring a holistic educational environment.

The Chief Minister also highlighted that education remains a key pillar in Tripura’s roadmap for tribal empowerment and sustainable development. By integrating traditional values with modern education, the EMRS initiative seeks to build a bridge between cultural preservation and academic excellence.

Dr. Saha expressed gratitude to the central government for prioritizing tribal education and development in the Northeast. “These schools are not just institutions; they are centers of hope for the future generations of Janajati youth who will contribute significantly to the nation’s growth,” he stated.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed the participation of senior officials, community leaders, teachers, and students, who celebrated the occasion with cultural performances reflecting Tripura’s diverse tribal heritage.

With the opening of the 12th EMRS at Jampuijala, Tripura moves closer to achieving the goal of completing all 21 sanctioned schools, ensuring that more students from marginalized backgrounds receive the same educational opportunities as their urban counterparts.

This step marks a significant stride toward the “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas” vision, reinforcing Tripura’s commitment to inclusive development through education.
