Tripura’s Food and Civil Supplies Minister, Sushanta Chowdhury, has assured ration card holders across the state that pending atta (wheat flour) dues will be distributed promptly. Addressing public concerns regarding delays in the supply of subsidized atta, the minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring food security for all eligible beneficiaries under the Public Distribution System (PDS).
The announcement comes amidst growing public criticism over logistical challenges and delayed distributions, which have caused hardship for many families relying on subsidized food grains for their daily needs.
Acknowledging the Issue
In his statement, Minister Chowdhury acknowledged the delays and emphasized that the government is actively working to resolve them. “We understand the inconvenience caused to our ration card holders due to the delay in atta distribution. I want to assure everyone that the government is taking all necessary steps to address the issue and ensure the dues are cleared at the earliest,” he said.
He further explained that logistical bottlenecks, including the procurement and transportation of wheat from central warehouses to local ration shops, were among the primary reasons for the delay. However, the minister assured that these challenges are being addressed in coordination with the Food Corporation of India (FCI) and other stakeholders.
