Focus on Digital Skills
The government wants students to understand emerging technologies from an early age. The programme also aims to improve digital confidence and introduce skills that could support future education and employment.
Furthermore, early AI learning can help students become familiar with technology that is increasingly used across different sectors.
Tripura Expands Skills Competition Framework
Meanwhile, Tripura has introduced a comprehensive framework for the India Skills Competition. The framework aligns with the global WorldSkills ecosystem.
The initiative will create a structured process for identifying talented young people. It will also support their training, mentoring and preparation for skills competitions.
Under the framework, Tripura has identified 26 skill areas. These include graphic design technology, software application development, mobile application development, web technologies and automobile technologies.
Advanced Technology Skills Included
The identified areas also include cloud computing and cybersecurity. Other sectors include Industry 4.0, electronics, electrical installations and digital construction.
In addition, the framework covers ICT network infrastructure and mechanical engineering CAD. These areas reflect the growing demand for technology and advanced vocational skills.
Institutes to Support Training
Several designated institutes will provide support under the skills framework. These include NIT Agartala, Tripura Institute of Technology (TIT), MSME Tool Room & Training Centre and NIELIT Agartala.
The institutes will support activities such as candidate screening, training, mentoring and competition preparation. As a result, talented youth will have a more structured pathway to develop specialised skills.
Building a Future Talent Pipeline
The two initiatives aim to expand access to AI education and advanced vocational training in Tripura. They also seek to strengthen the state’s talent pipeline for future employment.
By introducing emerging technology and vocational skills at an early stage, the government aims to prepare students and young people for a changing job market.
