Tripura Police have arrested Dulal Chandra Shil, a teacher under the 10,323 category, on charges of allegedly sexually assaulting a minor boy. Police apprehended him late Sunday night after he had remained absconding for several days.
Officer-in-Charge Krishnadhan Sarkar of Khowai Police Station confirmed the arrest. He said the father of the minor lodged a complaint on February 13 under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO Act).
According to the complaint, the minor boy informed his family that Shil had sexually assaulted him. After learning about the alleged incident, the father immediately approached the police and filed a formal complaint.

Accused Went Into Hiding After FIR
Following the registration of the case, the accused reportedly went into hiding to evade arrest. Police launched a search operation to trace his whereabouts. After several days of efforts, officers successfully located and arrested him.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the POCSO Act. Authorities produced the accused before the court as per legal procedure.
Investigation Underway
Officials said investigators are collecting statements and examining evidence related to the case. They added that the investigation remains ongoing and that further legal action will follow based on findings.
The POCSO Act provides stringent provisions to protect children from sexual offences and ensures strict punishment for those found guilty. Police reiterated their commitment to ensuring justice and safeguarding minors.
The arrest has drawn attention in the local community, with authorities urging parents and guardians to report any incidents involving children without delay.
