Tripura Police have swiftly arrested a rape accused within 24 hours of the crime reported under Amtali police station. The incident has been described as a possible gang-rape by the victim’s family.
The victim, a 21-year-old college student, had last spoken to her father over the phone at 3:30 pm on Monday. However, she did not return home and her phone was found to be switched off. The victim was later discovered on the bypass road in an unconscious state and was immediately taken to the hospital.
According to the victim’s mother, her daughter was on her way home when she was picked up by Goutam Sharma for a ride in his vehicle. There were three other individuals, including the driver, present in the car.
The victim’s family suspects that the incident may have been a gang-rape. The police have initiated an investigation into the matter and have arrested Goutam Sharma in connection with the crime.
