Tripura Government Orders School Closure

The Tripura Government has directed all Government, Government-aided, and Private schools in West Tripura and Sepahijala districts to remain closed on Monday due to continuous heavy rainfall.

According to an official communication, heavy rain continued across both districts and was expected to persist for another two to three hours. As a result, authorities decided to suspend classes to ensure the safety of students and school staff.

District Education Officers (DEOs) received instructions to issue immediate orders and ensure that all educational institutions remained closed for the day.

TBSE ‘Bochor Bachao’ Examination Postponed

In a separate notification, the Secondary Education Department announced the postponement of Monday’s ‘Bochor Bachao’ examination conducted under the Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE).

The department cited adverse weather conditions as the reason for the decision. District Education Officers have been asked to inform schools and ensure that the order is implemented without delay.

Officials said a revised examination schedule will be announced after the weather situation improves.

Government Prioritises Student Safety

The state government said the decision was taken as a precaution to protect students, teachers, and school employees from weather-related risks.

Continuous rainfall has caused waterlogging in several low-lying areas, making travel difficult and increasing safety concerns during school hours.

Therefore, authorities chose to suspend classes instead of risking the movement of students during the adverse weather.

Authorities Monitor Rainfall Situation

District administrations are closely monitoring rainfall across the affected districts. They are also coordinating with the Education Department and other government agencies to respond quickly if weather conditions worsen.

Meanwhile, officials have urged residents to remain alert and avoid unnecessary travel, especially through waterlogged roads and flood-prone areas.

The administration has assured the public that updates regarding schools and examinations will be issued based on the latest weather conditions.

Education Department to Announce New Exam Date

Students appearing for the postponed TBSE ‘Bochor Bachao’ examination need not worry, as the Education Department will announce a revised examination date in due course.

Officials said all schools and educational institutions will receive formal notifications once the new schedule is finalized.
