Two Bangladesh Nationals Apprehended in Tripura for Illegal Border Crossing

In a recent incident of illegal border crossing, two Bangladeshi nationals were caught attempting to enter India through the international border at Sabroom in Tripura’s Sepahijala district on Tuesday evening, as confirmed by the local police.

Detainees’ Background and Illegal Entry Consequences

The apprehended individuals are Jewel Dhar, 27 years old, and a 13-year-old boy, both hailing from Chittagong, Bangladesh. They were intercepted at Baishnabpur Tillabari. A senior police officer stated that one of the detainees has been sent to judicial custody, while the minor has been placed in a juvenile home. During the arrest, the police discovered two SIM cards—one issued in India and the other in Bangladesh—in possession of the individuals.

Previous Border Crossing Incidents

Last year, the Border Security Force took action against 744 individuals attempting illegal border crossings in the state. The apprehensions included 112 Rohingya individuals, 337 Bangladeshi nationals, and 295 Indian citizens, all intercepted in various operations.

This incident highlights the continued efforts of law enforcement to curb illegal border activities and maintain the security of the international boundary.
