Joint Operation Targets Drug Network

The North Tripura Police and the 97 Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) carried out a joint anti-drug operation in the Kadamtala area of Dharmanagar subdivision on Sunday.

The operation formed part of the district police’s intensified campaign against narcotics trafficking. Moreover, officers acted on specific intelligence inputs before launching coordinated raids.

Yaba Tablets and Cannabis Recovered

Under the direction of North District Superintendent of Police Abhinash Rai, the joint team searched the residences of Hafiz Ali and Abdul Hakim in Ward No. 4 of Ichaitulgaon village under Kadamtala Police Station.

During the search, officers recovered 9,750 Yaba tablets and 3 kilograms of cannabis (ganja). Police estimated the black-market value of the seized contraband at around ₹50 lakh.

Accused Escape Before Police Arrive

Although the joint team recovered a large quantity of narcotics, both accused reportedly fled before officers reached their residences.

According to police, the suspects escaped after learning about the raid. Therefore, investigators have launched a search operation to trace their whereabouts and arrest them.

Case Registered Under NDPS Act

Police completed the seizure by following all legal procedures.

Subsequently, Kadamtala Police Station registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. In addition, investigators are working to identify other people who may be linked to the alleged trafficking network.

Police Reaffirm Zero-Tolerance Policy

The successful operation has drawn attention across North Tripura and dealt a significant blow to suspected drug traffickers operating in the border district.

Meanwhile, SP Abhinash Rai reaffirmed the district police’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against narcotics.

He said surveillance would continue across vulnerable areas. Furthermore, he assured that police would conduct regular special operations to curb drug trafficking.

“The drug trade will not be allowed to flourish in North District under any circumstances. No individual involved in drug trafficking will be spared,” the SP said.
