In a strategic move, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has selected Swati Maliwal, the current chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), as its nominee for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.

AAP’s Nomination Strategy Unveiled

Breaking new ground, Swati Maliwal receives her first nomination, reflecting the Aam Aadmi Party’s confidence in her capabilities. The Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of AAP has also affirmed the re-nomination of Sanjay Singh and ND Gupta for their second terms as Rajya Sabha members.

The Rajya Sabha elections for the Delhi seats are scheduled for January 19. In adherence to the Election Commission of India (EC) timeline, January 9 marks the last date for submitting nominations to the Upper House. Subsequently, January 10 is slated for the scrutiny of nominations, with January 12 being the final date for the withdrawal of candidatures.

The Election Commission’s schedule underscores the meticulous planning involved in the electoral process. Should it be necessary, a poll will be conducted on January 19. The finalization of the election results is expected to be completed by January 23.
