Boy Drowned While Floating Flowers in Gomti River

A nine-year-old boy drowned while floating flowers in Gomti river. Around 7 am on Thursday morning, a shadow of grief fell over the incident in Nijchandra Para area under New Bazar police station. After a long seven-hour search, local residents and fire brigade recovered the body of the boy. Korbuk Sub-Divisional Ruler Partha Das visited the spot after receiving the news.

Ruler Partha Das said that Bihan Chakma (9) went to float flowers in the Gomti river as part of the people’s Phul Biju festival on Thursday morning. Bihan Chakma, son of Nayan Moni Chakma, a resident of that area. The boy drowned while floating flowers. On receiving the information, Jatan Bari fire brigade personnel started searching Gomti river. Bihan Chakma’s dead body was recovered after searching the river for seven hours with the efforts of local residents and firemen. He said that the body was recovered and handed over to the family. This death has cast a shadow of mourning on the entire area including the family.
