BSF Jawans Risked their lives to Stop Smuggling on Indo-Bangladesh Border

The 54th Border Security Force (BSF) personnel have displayed bravery along the Indo-Bangladesh International Border in the Nadia district of Bengal. Risking on their lives, the soldiers thwarted his plan while fighting the smugglers. During this, after failing to smuggle, the team of desperate smugglers attacked the soldiers on duty with sharp weapons and sticks. A jawan has been badly injured in this and his head has been broken.

Continuing the fight with serious injuries and bloody condition, the jawan caught a smuggler named Jehangir Alam Mandal (35) with 504 bottles of banned Phensedyl cough syrup. After this, the rest of the smugglers tried to rescue the partner. He continued his attack, after which another jawan opened fire with a non-lethal weapon to save himself and his companion.

After that the rest of the smugglers fled from the spot. BSF’s South Bengal Frontier spokesperson gave this information in a statement issued on Thursday. The incident took place late Wednesday night in Matiyari area, the border outpost of 54th Corps posted in the border area of Nadia. Officials said that the smugglers were trying to forcibly smuggle in the dark of night. The group of smugglers was led by Milan Mandal, who managed to escape.

Here, the injured jawan and the caught smuggler were admitted to the Government Krishnaganj Hospital after giving first aid. In fact, arrested smuggler Jahangir Alam, who hails from Nadia district, was also injured during the attack on the jawans by the smugglers. According to the BSF, the value of Phensedyl seized from the smuggler’s pa is estimated to be around Rs 1,03,476.

Here, the caught smuggler told the BSF during interrogation that there were nine people with him, who attacked the soldiers. All were smugglers of Phensedyl. Here, BSF has handed over the arrested smuggler along with the seized goods to Krishnaganj police station for further legal action. At the same time, BSF has also lodged an FIR against his other associates.

Here, on this episode, the Commanding Officer of 54th Corps BSF said that our jawans are committed to protect the international border and prevent smuggling. Our jawans are willing to risk their lives to fulfill their duties.
