Cyclonic Storm Damages 800 Houses in Tripura, Relief Fund Allocated

Tripura has been hit by a cyclonic storm, leaving a trail of destruction across seven districts. Over 800 houses have been reported damaged, plunging numerous families into distress. In response, the state government has swiftly mobilized resources, allocating a State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF) amounting to Rs 55.38 crores to facilitate immediate relief and rehabilitation efforts.

The cyclonic storm, characterized by strong winds and heavy rainfall, struck several districts of Tripura, causing widespread damage to residential structures and infrastructure. Reports indicate that the affected districts include West Tripura, Sepahijala, Gomati, South Tripura, Dhalai, Khowai, and North Tripura.

In light of the significant impact on vulnerable communities, authorities have prioritized the allocation of relief funds to all District Authorities. This financial assistance is intended to support the implementation of urgent relief measures, including providing shelter, food, and medical aid to affected individuals and families.

Mr. Rajesh Kumar, Chief Minister of Tripura, expressed deep concern over the situation and affirmed the government’s commitment to providing timely assistance to those in need. “Our foremost priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of our citizens affected by the cyclonic storm. The allocation of the State Disaster Relief Fund underscores our determination to swiftly address the challenges posed by this natural calamity,” stated Mr. Kumar.

Efforts are underway to assess the extent of damage and identify the most vulnerable communities requiring immediate assistance. District Authorities, in coordination with local disaster management agencies and non-governmental organizations, are mobilizing resources to conduct relief operations and provide essential services to affected populations.

Residents of the affected districts are urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities to facilitate the smooth implementation of relief and rehabilitation efforts. Additionally, the government has advised precautionary measures to minimize the risk of further damage and ensure the safety of residents in cyclone-affected areas.

As Tripura grapples with the aftermath of the cyclonic storm, solidarity and collective action are essential in overcoming the challenges posed by natural disasters. The allocation of the State Disaster Relief Fund serves as a testament to the government’s unwavering commitment to supporting communities in times of crisis, reaffirming its role as a responsive and compassionate steward of public welfare.
