To enhance your monsoon experience, two creators from Moj have shared their delightful and healthy beverage recipes designed specifically for this rainy season.

  1. Badami Haalu (By Ria Arora, Moj)

Indulge in the goodness of this soothing milk drink that features a delightful blend of ground almond paste and saffron strands. Not only does it have a dreamy appearance, but it also offers a scrumptious taste. This traditional beverage works wonders in treating dry coughs and provides relief for mouth or throat ulcers.

Ingredients:

  • 5 cups of full cream milk
  • ¼ cup of almonds
  • A few strands of saffron
  • 6 dates, pureed
  • ½ tsp of green cardamom powder

For the garnish:

  • 1 tsp of dried edible rose petals
  • 1 tbsp of slivered almonds
  • A few strands of saffron, steeped in 1 tbsp of lukewarm milk

Method:

  1. Soak the almonds in water for at least 2 hours.
  2. Peel the almonds and grind them with a little milk into a smooth paste.
  3. In a small glass bowl, steep the saffron strands in lukewarm milk to extract maximum flavor and color.
  4. In a heavy-bottomed, non-stick pan, bring the milk to a boil.
  5. Add the almond paste and simmer while stirring continuously for 10 minutes.
  6. Incorporate the steeped saffron strands and the pureed dates, then continue simmering and stirring for another 5 minutes.
  7. Add the green cardamom powder, mix well, and bring the mixture to a gentle boil. Turn off the flame.
  8. Serve the Badami Haalu hot, garnished with slivered almonds, steeped saffron strands, and dried rose petals.
  9. Golden Latte (By Jyoti, Moj)

Ingredients:

  • 250ml of milk

  • Jaggery (as needed)

Method:

  1. In a saucepan, take 1 cup of milk.
  2. Add 2 pinches of turmeric and ½ teaspoon of crushed pepper.
  3. Whisk and mix well, ensuring all the ingredients are combined.
  4. Bring the milk to a boil and add brown sugar or honey (if desired).
  5. Filter the mixture and serve it hot.
