Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha emphasized the need to promote the ‘My Gov’ portal to accelerate rural development. He urged officials to actively engage with the platform, ensuring that government schemes and policies reach even the most remote areas. Speaking at a high-level meeting in Agartala, he highlighted how digital governance can bridge the gap between the administration and rural communities.
He stressed that transparency and efficiency in governance improve when digital platforms are utilized effectively. The ‘My Gov’ portal, launched as part of the Digital India initiative, serves as a direct communication link between the government and the public. By integrating this platform into daily administrative functions, the state can ensure real-time monitoring of projects and grievances.
The Chief Minister pointed out that many rural citizens still lack access to government benefits due to a lack of awareness or bureaucratic delays. With the promotion of digital governance, officials can resolve these issues swiftly, making welfare schemes more accessible. He called upon local authorities, panchayat leaders, and district officials to conduct awareness drives to educate citizens on using the portal.
The initiative aligns with the broader goal of modernizing governance by minimizing paperwork and streamlining services. Digital tools can significantly reduce corruption and delays, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively. The Chief Minister noted that adopting such digital platforms would make government processes smoother and more accountable.
Tripura has been making strides in digital infrastructure, with improved internet penetration and mobile connectivity in rural areas. He acknowledged these advancements but emphasized that technology must be fully utilized for governance. The ‘My Gov’ portal offers a range of services, including direct citizen participation in policy discussions, feedback on government initiatives, and access to essential documents and scheme details.
Encouraging youth participation, he stated that young citizens should be actively involved in governance through digital platforms. Their engagement would not only improve government outreach but also strengthen the democratic process. He urged colleges and universities to introduce digital literacy programs that include training on how to use government portals effectively.
The government is also focusing on integrating the ‘My Gov’ portal with various welfare schemes, including those related to agriculture, education, healthcare, and employment. By doing so, rural communities can benefit from simplified application processes and faster grievance redressal. Officials are working on adding multilingual support to make the portal more user-friendly for non-English speakers.
He directed administrative departments to ensure seamless coordination between the state and central government digital initiatives. The aim is to make digital governance an integral part of daily administrative work. By reducing the dependency on physical visits to government offices, people can save time and effort.
The Chief Minister reiterated that technology must be inclusive. The government plans to conduct training programs for panchayat members and rural development officers to help them navigate the portal efficiently. This would enable local representatives to assist villagers in accessing government services digitally.
Tripura has already witnessed successful implementation of digital governance in certain sectors. Online portals for land records, pension schemes, and grievance redressal mechanisms have been well received by citizens. Expanding the use of the ‘My Gov’ portal will further enhance these efforts.
With Tripura steadily moving towards a digital future, the promotion of this initiative is expected to bring tangible benefits to rural communities. The government remains committed to ensuring that no citizen is left behind in the state’s development journey.
