Tseten Chombay’s visit began with a surprise inspection of ongoing roadwork between Kalaktang and nearby villages. He noted slow progress in certain stretches and directed the contractor to speed up the work without compromising quality. Speaking to the site engineer, he insisted that the road must be completed before the monsoon intensifies. “Delays cost people both time and safety. We cannot allow slow execution in such critical sectors,” he said.
The MLA then turned his attention to the government primary and secondary schools in the area. He inspected classrooms, interacted with students, and reviewed the infrastructure status. In one school, he found incomplete washroom facilities and asked the education department to resolve the issue within two weeks.
Additionally, the review included a visit to the Kalaktang Community Health Centre. Chombay examined the availability of basic medicines and equipment, urging health officials to maintain stock and improve cleanliness. He assured the staff that he would follow up with the state health ministry to fill any gaps in staffing or supply.
Water Supply and Rural Connectivity
Access to drinking water has remained a consistent concern in Kalaktang. Therefore, the Tseten Chombay Kalaktang review gave special attention to rural water supply schemes under implementation. There, community members highlighted issues such as power outages, lack of mobile connectivity, and inadequate public transport.

He reviewed physical progress reports and asked officers to submit weekly updates going forward. Chombay stressed that funds allocated to Kalaktang must show visible results.
In particular, he instructed officers to address delays in file movement and departmental coordination. “Development slows down when departments don’t talk to each other. That must change,” he remarked.
