Union Minister Pratima Bhoumik Resigns From the Dhanpur Constituency

Pratima Bhoumik said, BJP’s central leadership had directed me to contest from Dhanpur assembly constituency despite being a Lok Sabha member and Union Minister of State. On the advice of the party, I have submitted my resignation from the post of MLA from Dhanpur seat to the pro team speaker in the state assembly premises.

Union Minister of State Pratima Bhoumik has resigned from the post of MLA who won from Dhanpur seat in the recently held Assembly elections in Tripura. She defeated CPI(M) candidate Kaushik Chanda in the assembly elections. Talking to reporters, Bhoumik said, won from Dhanpur assembly constituency on March 2 and accordingly had to resign because of holding two respectable posts.

She said, the BJP’s central leadership had directed me to contest from Dhanpur assembly constituency despite being a Lok Sabha member and a Union minister of state.

On the advice of the party, I submitted my resignation from the post of MLA from Dhanpur seat to the pro tem speaker in the state assembly premises. Bhoumik was accompanied by Ratan Lal Nath. He is pro tem speaker Binay Bhushan Das.
