Sikkim today, on August 20, to mark 30 years of the day Nepali language was included in the eighth schedule of the Indian constitution celebrated the 30th Nepali Bhasha Manyata Diwas and some of the respectable personalities who have restlessly through their commendable works have contributed to the development of the language and have brought accolades to the wider Nepali community’s pride and glory were honored and felicitated in an award ceremony held by the Sikkim Nepali Sahitya Parishad to commemorate the day.
Two drug peddlers in Manipur, on Wednesday, August 17th, after a chase against illegal drug dealers were nabbed by the Manipur police from district Tengnoupal. The security forces recovered and seized drugs worth over Rs 5 Crore from the offenders.
Dr. Dhruwajyoti Choudhury, the Controller of Examination(CoE) at the University of Gauhati was suspended with due effect on Thursday, August 18. This significant move of the Disciplinary Authority of the University to suspend Dr. Choudhury came after anomalies in the examination process and the delay in the declaration of the undergraduate examination results this year.
