Dr. B.R Ambedkar’s 133rd Birth Anniversary Celebrated in Tripura


Different organizations celebrated the 133rd birth anniversary of Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, the father of the Indian Constitution, with great enthusiasm across the state. An official program led by the minister for SC welfare, Sudhanshu Das, included a colourful procession starting from Rabindra Shata Varshiki Bhawan that culminated in front of the royal ‘Ujjayanta’ palace, where the minister garlanded the installed statue of Dr Ambedkar. The chief minister, Dr Manik Saha, then unveiled a statue of Dr Ambedkar in front of the state assembly building. The state Congress party also celebrated the occasion at the Congress Bhawan, attended by senior Congress leaders. Additionally, the SC co-ordination committee, a front organization of the CPI (M), held a program in Paradise Chaumuhuni area of Agartala to honour Dr Ambedkar.

After the official program, Chief Minister Saha spoke to the media and described Dr Ambedkar as a revolutionary figure who championed the emancipation of the Dalit community in India. He called upon all sections of society to follow the principles and ideals enunciated by Dr Ambedkar. The celebration of Dr Ambedkar’s birth anniversary across the state by different organizations underscores his enduring legacy and the widespread recognition of his contribution to the Indian Constitution and society.
