Union Home Minister Amit Shah along with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President JP Nadda will be on a three-day visit to Assam from Friday. Officials said the two leaders would inaugurate the party’s new state office here.
Both the leaders will reach Guwahati on Friday evening. Nadda will leave on Saturday evening after attending a few meetings, while Shah will leave the state on Sunday evening after several official functions.
Addressing a press conference, BJP state president Bhabesh Kalita said, “Nadda and Shah will reach here on Friday around 4 pm. After that he will take part in the core committee meeting of the party.”
He said that on Saturday both the leaders would inaugurate the new BJP state office on National Highway-27 in Bashist Chariyali area in the presence of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal.
Kalita said, “After the program the leader will address a rally of BJP booth workers at Khanapara. We are hopeful that 40 to 45 thousand booth workers will be involved in this.”
Though the BJP state unit chief did not mention his other programmes, official sources told PTI that Nadda would leave from Assam on Saturday evening.
A source said Shah will be here and will attend several official meetings to be held at the Assam Administrative Staff College in Guwahati on Saturday evening and Sunday morning.
Another source in the Assam Police said that in the afternoon of Sunday, he will visit the Police Training College at Dargaon in Golaghat district to attend a conference of state superintendents of police.
He said the Home Minister would leave from Assam from Jorhat airport on Sunday evening.
